The Generac 150A Service Entrance-Rated Automatic Transfer Switch with integrated Surge Protection Device (SPD) is designed for residential whole-home standby power installations. At 150 amps on a single-phase 120/240V circuit, it provides sufficient capacity to manage the full electrical load of most homes — including central air conditioning, well pumps, electric water heaters, and all branch circuits — without manual intervention during an outage. Automatic vs. manual: what the difference means for you. A manual transfer switch requires a homeowner to physically switch circuits when the power goes out. This ATS eliminates that entirely. The generator controller continuously monitors the utility supply and automatically initiates startup, warmup, and load transfer — then returns to utility power and cooldown when the grid recovers. No switches to flip, no trips to the panel in a storm. Transfer switch vs. interlock kit. An interlock kit mechanically prevents two breakers from being on simultaneously inside your existing main panel. A dedicated transfer switch like this one is a separate, code-compliant device under NEC Article 702 that provides a more reliable isolation point, supports a service entrance rating, and is required in most jurisdictions for whole-home standby installations. Licensed electrician installation is required by code. Surge protection built into the switch itself. The factory-installed SPD is rated at 50 kA surge current capacity per phase and operates as a Type 1 or Type 2 device, protecting appliances and electronics from transient voltage spikes caused by utility events or generator transfer. The LED service indicator shows SPD status at a glance. The enclosure measures approximately 26.8"H x 10.5"W x 6.3"D, mounts vertically to any rigid surface indoors or out, and accepts conductors from #6 to 250 MCM (Cu/Al). Covered by a 5-year limited warranty — including the integrated SPD.

  • WHOLE-HOME STANDBY POWER FOR SINGLE-PHASE RESIDENTIAL SYSTEMS: Rated at 150 amps on a 120/240V single-phase circuit, this service entrance-rated ATS supports whole-home backup power for central AC, well pumps, water heaters, and all essential circuits
  • FULLY AUTOMATIC TRANSFER — NO MANUAL ACTION REQUIRED: The generator controller manages all power sensing, timing, and transfer commands automatically, so backup power activates within seconds of an outage without any intervention from the homeowner
  • OPEN-TRANSITION SWITCHING PREVENTS UTILITY BACKFEED: The open-transition design ensures utility and generator power are never connected simultaneously, physically blocking reverse current flow into the grid to protect utility workers and comply with NEC Article 702
  • FACTORY-INSTALLED WHOLE-HOME SURGE PROTECTION DEVICE: Integrated 50 kA-rated SPD redirects transient voltage spikes away from appliances and electronics during utility surges or generator transfer events — no separate surge protector installation required
  • NEMA 3R ALUMINUM ENCLOSURE RATED FOR OUTDOOR INSTALLATION: The corrosion-resistant aluminum enclosure with electrostatically baked powder coat deflects rain, sleet, snow, and ice, so the unit can be mounted indoors or outside at the service entrance
  • COMPATIBLE WITH GENERAC EVOLUTION AND POWER ZONE 200 CONTROLLERS: Engineered for single-phase Generac Home Standby and Guardian generators using Evolution or Power Zone 200 controllers, with a hardened control module that resists brownouts and power disturbances
  • FAST-MOUNT ENCLOSURE SYSTEM REDUCES PROFESSIONAL INSTALLATION TIME: Select models include an innovative fast-mount hanging system that can save a licensed installer 30 or more minutes, reducing labor costs compared to standard transfer switch installations
  • WHAT'S INCLUDED: Generac 150A service entrance-rated automatic transfer switch with factory-installed SPD, ETLus-listed contactor, wiring lugs (#6–250 MCM), and owner's manual — backed by a 5-year limited warranty including the integrated SPD
